Is cultural assimilation a good or bad thing in a school environment?

I feel that cultural assimilation is a good thing if done in an effective way, if a student feels pressure form their peers and the environment around them to change, then they should do what they feel comfortable doing most. The benefits of assimilation could be that you could relate on religious things like practice, Also you are exposed to a more diverse community of people and cultures. It is good to respect other cultures and in some cases replicate it while in that environment but to replace you're religion because it is the popular option is not ok for me at least. I feel like if you believe in the practices of a different religion then go for the one you believe in most. "Students from minority cultures might stop wearing traditional clothes, eating the way they do at home or speaking their mother-tongue." in my experience around our school people are comfortable with there religion and traditional clothes from there respective religions. With everything out, I truly feel like assimilation if done correctly is a great thing, it is especially great to be to be familiar with other cultures and beliefs.

this photo is showing how if something/someone is different they will try to blend in with the other people in there environment.
